Wok DMCA incident
In February 2014, garry received a DMCA takedown notice from a German company concerning an image of a wok, posted by GussGriswold in November 2012. After garry publicised the incident on Twitter,[1] the image was widely reposted and became a recognisable part of Facepunch culture.
Reactions
A thread about the incident started by Swiket was quickly filled with wok puns and photoshops.[2] Coment made a userscript replacing every image on Facepunch with the wok,[3] while Lt_C created a 3D model of the wok for use in Garry's Mod and Source Filmmaker.[4][5]
Legacy
The wok was remembered as an emoticon, contributed by d9001 during Wave 1 of The Facepunch Custom Emoticon Project.[6]
