Forum sections

Hardware and Software is a former Facepunch forum category, promoted from a forum section following the 2011 forum section reshuffle.

While the original section adopted the "General Discussion" subtitle, all of its subforums (sans Technical Support and PC Building initially) were promoted to full-fledged sections, those being Web Development, Programming (which would have at least three sub-forums in its lifespan), Linux, Apple, Google and Windows. The latter four would be dropped about a year later, in July of 2012, while Technical Support and PC Building were promoted to sections.

Following the 2014 forum section reshuffle, Programming and Web Development joined the newly-created Developers forum category, alongside Mapping and Modelling from the now-gone Valve Games and Mods category.
