Flagdog.

Flagdog is a system created by garry and launched in May of 2011 which displayed a small flag in the bottom left-hand corner of each post, showing which country a user is from based on GeoIP, and linked to a Wikipedia article for that country.[1] Garry took it down during early 2012, but enabled it again on the 10th of May, 2013, adding alt text for each image showing the name of the country and removing the Wikipedia links. Flagdog was not very accurate, as a result of its IP database being incredibly outdated, leading to some odd cases where an Australian is labelled as living in the United States, or a Californian is labelled as living in Canada.

On the 22nd of May, 2015, Robotboy655 changed Flagdog, making it so that it displayed the region that the user's post was sent from, rather than displaying the region of account creation.[2] Around the 1st of November, 2017, Flagdog broke,[3] and the following day, everyone in Forums Discussion mourned its disappearance.

While Flagdog in its most well-known form is unlikely to return, the New Sites Forum does show in text-form, alongside when the post was made, where the post was posted from.
